Sixth Form Transition Work
Upon registration students will be given a transition booklet for the courses of their choice in order to support the change in expectations of GCSE and A Level studies. The expectation is that a number of activities and reading takes place before the start of the school year.
Students are expected to complete an hour of extra guided study per subject they take. These are called ‘Guided Learning’ hours and are competed in the dedicated Sixth Form Study area. These sessions are supervised by our Careers and Pastoral Lead, and are designed to stretch students’ skills in research, consolidation and independent inquiry. The remainder of students’ time can be spent completing enrichment activities in college such as participating in sporting activities, being a Teaching Assistant, contributing to the Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes, achieving The Duke of Edinburgh Award, engaging in social action through being a member of the John Paul II group, or being actively involved in the Head Student Team. These activities help to develop team work and improve leadership skills.
