As part of our ongoing efforts to raise standards and expectations in and around college we have from today, Monday 8th July 2019, implemented a new Behaviour System. As a College we believe that students learn best and make more progress when standard of behaviour in the classroom are high. It is therefore, our intent to ensure that all students have the best opportunity to learn and to make progress as a result of positive learning environments.
Our new behaviour system moves away from our old ‘Consequence’ System and is now based around a ‘Traffic Light’ system of Green, Amber and Red. For every lesson all students will start on a Green and will receive PARs for behaviour that go ‘Above and Beyond’ expectations in lesson and around college. Students will only proceed up the traffic light system if their behaviour and attitude in lessons is not in line with our Code of Conduct and high expectations.
Any student who receives an Amber within a particular lesson will be issued with a 30-minute next day detention. Students can also be issued with an Amber for any unexplained lateness to lesson. The College will give you 24 hours’ notice of any detention that is issued and students will be issued with a slip to remind them of their detention. Any student who fails to attend detention will have their sanction upscaled to a 1-hour Senior Leadership detention. Further to this, any student who fails to attend our Senior Leadership detention will have their sanction upscaled to a period a 1-day internal isolation.
If a student is issued a Red in lesson or around College as a result of a serious breach of our Code of Conduct and they will be placed into our internal isolation area. Again, we will notify you should your son/daughter be placed within isolation.
Further information in relation to our new policy can be found below.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you in anticipation of your support. However, should you have any concerns in relation to your son/daughter please do not hesitate to contact their Form Tutor or Head of Year.
